NOTICE OF TREE CLEARING ON
LAKE ROAD, COUNTY ROAD 19.
Reason For Tree Clearing:
County Highway Forces cleared within the county Right-of-Way along Lake Road between Eastlake Road and Clayton Drive for utility relocation in anticipation of future curve realignment and culvert replacement in 2 years.
The project is being conducted by the County Engineer's Office, and the Park District partnered with them by gaving permission to realign on park property. Doing so will also help direct water into the wetlands on the future Chippewa Lake Park.
The straightened road will make use of curve's western swale and extend to Clayton Drive.

Every year, the U.S. Census Bureau contacts over 3.5 million households across the country to participate in the American Community Survey.
When you respond to the survey, you are doing your part to ensure decisions about your community can be made using the best data available. Many federal, state, tribal, and local leaders use the answers to update their statistics.
Getting a call, letter, or a visit about the American Community Survey (ACS) — when so many scammers are trying to trick you into sharing personal information — might make you think twice. And it’s good to think twice.
But the ACS is a legitimate survey to collect information used to make decisions about how federal funding is spent in your community. Want to know more? Read on.
If you got a survey and want to verify it’s legit, call your Census Bureau regional office. Here’s what else to expect:
The Census Bureau thanks you again for your valuable engagement in the ACS program. They look forward to meeting, learning and further exploring the informational and data needs of the disability community.

Many Americans still drink water with unhealthy levels of toxic chemicals, heavy metals, bacteria, and other contaminants.
Some chemicals can make you sick if they are in your tap water at unsafe levels.
Find information below about the chemicals that most often contaminate tap water and cause disease, and how to remove them.
*** Educating yourself and your family about these chemicals is important, especially if you own or rent a home built in the early to mid- century in the Village because many of the homes and/ or cottages may not have had their plumbing updated.***
For example, the most common sources of lead in drinking water are lead pipes, faucets, and plumbing fixtures. Certain pipes that carry drinking water from the water source to the home may contain lead. Household plumbing fixtures, welding solder, and pipe fittings made prior to 1986 may also contain lead.
Lead sampling of residential tap water is available from the Environmental Division of the Medina County Health Department for a fee of $55. You may call to pay and schedule at your convenience.

Understanding the Quality of your Drinking Water
Consumer Confidence Reports (CCRs), also known as water quality reports or drinking water quality reports, provide you with important information about the quality of your drinking water.
. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requires every community water supplier to provide a CCR to its customers.
Community water suppliers must provide CCRs to their customers by mail or online by July 1st.
If you don’t pay your water bill directly—for example, if you live in an apartment or rental house where the landlord or a management company pays the water bill—you may need to contact them for more information. You could also check online to see if your CCR is posted.
Only community water systems that serve the same people year-round provide CCRs, and our Village does, from Medina County Sanitary Engineers.

Winter driving can be hazardous and scary, especially in [Medina County] that get a lot of snow and ice. Additional preparations can help make a trip safer, or help motorists deal with an emergency.
This sheet provides safety information to your residents to help prevent motor vehicle injuries due to winter storms.
The three P’s of Safe Winter Driving:
PREPARE for the trip; PROTECT yourself; and PREVENT crashes on the road.
PREPARE
Maintain Your Car: Check battery, tire tread, and windshield wipers, keep your windows clear, put no-freeze fluid in the washer reservoir, and check your antifreeze.
Have On Hand: flashlight, jumper cables, abrasive material (sand, kitty litter, even floor mats), shovel, snow brush and ice scraper, warning devices (like flares) and blankets. For long trips, add food and water, medication and cell phone.
Stopped or Stalled? Stay in your car, don’t overexert, put bright markers on antenna or windows and shine dome light, and, if you run your car, clear exhaust pipe and run it just enough to stay warm.
Plan Your route: Allow plenty of time (check the weather and leave early if necessary), be familiar with the maps/ directions, and let others know your route and arrival time.

OVERVIEW
Medina County residents will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness a total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024. A total solar eclipse occurs when the moon completely blocks the sun, creating a dark shadow on Earth. This is a rare and spectacular event that can only be seen from a narrow path of totality that crosses the globe.
Medina County is one of the few places in Ohio that will be in the path of totality for the 2024 eclipse. This means that people in Medina County will be able to see the sun’s atmosphere, or corona, shining around the moon during the eclipse. The corona is normally invisible to the naked eye, but becomes visible during a total solar eclipse.
The 2024 eclipse will be the first total solar eclipse visible in Ohio since 1806. The next total solar eclipse in Ohio will not happen until 2099. Therefore, this is a rare chance for Medina County residents to experience this natural phenomenon.
The eclipse will begin at 1:58 p.m. EDT and reach totality at 3:13 p.m. The duration of totality will be about 3 minutes and 26 seconds. The eclipse will end at 4:29 p.m. The sun will be at an altitude of 49 degrees and an azimuth of 222 degrees at the time of totality. This means that the sun will be high in the southeast sky during the eclipse.
PATH & TIMING
The eclipse will move from southwest to northeast across Ohio, and right across Cleveland.

NASA offers the following guidelines and rules for the safety of all residents and/ or visitors who will be viewing the eclipse in the Village.
PROTECTING YOUR EYES
It’s extremely important to protect your eyes when viewing the eclipse. Here’s information about safety from NASA.
Except during the brief total phase of a total solar eclipse, when the Moon completely blocks the Sun’s bright face, it is not safe to look directly at the Sun without specialized eye protection for solar viewing.
Viewing any part of the bright Sun through a camera lens, binoculars, or a telescope without a special-purpose solar filter secured over the front of the optics will instantly cause severe eye injury.
To safely view the eclipse, people need to wear special glasses or filters that block out most of the sun’s light. Looking directly at the sun without protection can cause permanent eye damage or blindness. Ordinary sunglasses or homemade filters are not enough to protect the eyes from the sun’s harmful rays.
MORE INFORMATION
Ohio has created a website with more information about the 2024 Solar Eclipse. The website also has educational resources and activities for teachers and students to learn more about eclipses and astronomy.
The 2024 eclipse is expected to attract millions of visitors and tourists to Ohio and other states in the path of totality. The last total solar eclipse in the US was in 2017 and drew an estimated 215 million people to watch it. The 2024 eclipse will be even more accessible and visible to more people than in 2017.
Medina County residents are encouraged to mark their calendars and plan ahead for this historic event. The 2024 eclipse will be a unique and unforgettable experience for everyone who witnesses it.

On December 5, 2023, Rob Smykal and his sister, Kris Mason, made a generous donation of 44 acres to the Medina County Park District (MCPD).
This significant contribution, comprised of two parcels, is situated north of the Krabill Lodge near Chippewa Lake, contiguous with MCPD land.
The property's rich history aligns seamlessly with the MCPD's plans for extensive trails in the Chippewa Watershed.
While development of this newly acquired land is projected to be at least five years away, the park district is currently focusing its efforts toward revitalizing a section of the former Chippewa Amusement Park.
